Ring the Alarm: Cell phone radiation studies confirm serious health concerns

There’s an overwhelming gulf of information circulating at any given moment.

It’s become a challenge to discern fact from exaggeration and recognize which data can be trusted.

I’ve dedicated years to educating myself on mental and biological health and spreading public awareness, teaching others to make wiser, more informed choices for themselves and their families. Especially on the issues concerning public health, where medical science and media often conflict.

Probably one of the most ignored mantras in the science community has been the continued warning concerning the scientifically-backed dangers of Electromagnetic Field (EMF) exposure and prolonged cell phone use. Among a plethora of unsettling byproducts are symptoms such as lethargy and depression, sleep disturbances, cellular stress, memory deficits, and in extreme cases, even cancer.

The World Health Organization (WHO) explains that prolonged exposure to EMFs, areas of energy surrounding electronic devices such as cell phones and computers, exceeding certain levels can trigger harmful biological effects. Here’s how it works, common-use electronic devices are deemed part of a lower frequency range while, say, high voltage transmission lines, such as cell phone towers, are considered high frequency range.

When electric fields are influenced by conductive materials, they impact the distribution of electrical charges and cause currents to flow through the body to the ground. If significant enough, such currents can adversely affect nerves and muscles and contribute to formation of free radicals in your body impacting other biological processes and leading to extended, sometimes severe, health deficiencies.

As macabre a phenomenon as it sounds, plenty can still be done to mitigate long-term effects. Researchers cite that limiting cell phone use is a tremendously effective step in the right direction. In an age of hyper-connectivity, many of us are all but tethered to the primary and sometimes only source of communicating with friends and family and accessing work, media, etc. While eliminating mobile communication altogether may not be feasible, other measures can certainly be observed such as texting and emailing in alternative to close-contact use and utilizing your speaker when possible to minimize direct contact during calls. Using shielding devices to adjust EMF frequencies to less harmful levels can be a powerful protective measure to take. Even powering off your device during downtimes and sleeping in completely separate rooms from where your devices are stored can be more effective than you’d imagine.

With regard to mitigating exposure to higher frequency EMFs, researchers suggest the best defense is in a good offense. Proactively avoiding prolonged exposure to areas where there’s greater risk is a valuable strategy. If possible, it’s best to avoid living near or staying in hotels nearby or directly beside cell towers or power lines.

What’s been widely dismissed by much of the scientific community as an unsupported trend, is now gaining the credibility it deserves. Experts on this phenomenon have been tirelessly spreading word and working with numerous organizations to promulgate awareness and revisit safety standards with the goal of protecting the increasingly exposed general public, particularly its most vulnerable – existing and unborn children. Researchers continue vehemently pushing for as much data as possible released and guidelines strengthened, guarding future generations from even harsher consequences from continued disregard. ♦
